AmericaEd Learning Center
is Where the Stars Shine, with preschool, summer
school, after school and support for home-schooling parents
for ages 2 to 12. It was founded in 1992 as a vocational
school for high tech programs and morphed itself with the
changing demands in the economy to Early Childhood Education
field. AmericaEd is the creation of two Silicon Valley
parents, Dr. Omer Uyuklu and Leman Uyuklu, and their partner
Maria E. Fraser, who realized their dream by first starting an
Early Childhood Education Training and Placement Program and
then with a preschool. They wished to fill a need for a safe
and quality educational environment for children during the
workday and after school.
Education/Training Director
Amtul Suhail, on board since 2002, says, "As Early Childhood
Education professionals, we understand the considerable growth
and change during these years. We teach the whole child
through a curriculum that includes language and communication,
science and technology, math and logic, creative expression,
music and movement, interpersonal and intrapersonal skills,
and enrichment and extracurricular activities." |
"We
teach the
whole
child. We
are not
preparing
children
just for
the next
grade, but
for
life." |
The school's philosophy is to
let each child learn at his or her own pace, under the
guidance of carefully selected, highly professional and
trained individuals. With the children's input, teachers
develop curriculum webs to ensure that their students are
eager to learn. "We are not preparing children just for the
next grade, but for life," says Amtul. "It is our desire to
respect the dignity, worth and uniqueness of each individual."
AmericaEd Learning Center is
housed in the old Randol Elementary School, in south San Jose.
The facility features three playgrounds, a mini wilderness
garden, a green and concrete lot for team sports. Interior
spaces feature plenty of room for children to be active
learners, as well as quiet rest areas, listening corners and
cozy bean bags for those who need a slower pace and a peaceful
corner.
All of this attention to
detail and emphasis on allowing each child to reach and
surpass his or her goals is what sets AmericaEd Learning
Center apart and truly allows their stars to shine.

The Mission
Statement
It is our mission to provide meaningful and long-lasting learning
for young children that require active thinking and experimenting to
find out how things work.
This is best accomplished through purposeful play facilitated by
highly intentional teaching practices.
AmericaEd Learning Center’s comprehensive approach to curriculum is
based on an understanding of the complex social/emotional, physical,
and cognitive development of young children and the way children
learn.
Our comprehensive curriculum provides guidance on the many factors
that lead to a high-quality program and presents all aspects of
teaching young children effectively.
Our mission is to develop children’s critical thinking skills for
better grades, higher test scores, and success in life.
Our Philosophy
Our philosophy is that children construct their knowledge while
actively engaged in the process of understanding the world. We
provide a comprehensive, research-based integrated curriculum that
enables children to achieve positive and consistent outcomes. Our
teachers know what to teach and why, and how
children learn best. Our teachers respond to individual needs
and learning styles of all of the children.
The foundation of our curriculum
is based on more than 75 years of scientific research about child
development and learning theory that leads to specific instructional
strategies based on how young children learn best. Our
Developmentally Appropriate Curriculum is based on the theories
of Erik Erikson, Jean Piaget, Lev Vygotsky, and Howard
Gardner, as well as recent research studies about language,
literacy, multiple intelligence, scientific approach, and math
development. Our teachers clearly and simply apply this information
to a classroom on an every day basis.
Our
Goals and Objectives
- Meet
children's social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and language
development needs.
- Train
teachers to become good observers of children and assess
children's needs, interests, and abilities in order to plan a
developmentally appropriate curriculum.
- Use a wide
range of teaching strategies that call for different levels of
teacher involvement.
- Create
classroom communities where children learn to work together and
solve problems.
- Establish a
structure that has to be in place for teachers to teach and
children to learn.
- Plan
meaningful learning experiences for children that build on
children's interests and knowledge.
- Integrate
the learning of appropriate skills, concepts, and knowledge in
literacy, math, science, social studies, the arts, and technology.
Our curriculum
model is child oriented and teacher facilitated. Based on the
guidelines provided by NAEYC it is practical, logical, and meaningful
to children as well as teachers.

Chesbro Ave. in South San Jose. It is a beautiful public school
building with three, age appropriate playgrounds, a mini wilderness
garden with redwood trees, vegetable garden and an outdoor story
telling area with a mini amphitheater. Children also have access to a
concrete playground for various ball games and team sports. Our grass
area is large enough to hold soccer and baseball games as well as
large group picnics and other outdoor activities.
Inside facility
is built especially for elementary school age education purposes.
The classrooms have wall-to-wall cabinets, drawers, white boards,
chalk boards, movie projection screens and counters and sinks for
everyday learning activities. Children have plenty of room to be
active learners. We also have quiet rest areas, listening centers,
and soft bean bags for those who need a slower pace and a quiet
corner.
