"Childhood has its own way of seeing, thinking and feeling and nothing
is more foolish than to try and substitute ours for theirs."

Preschoolers are usually most responsive to activities
in which they are involved in hands on learning activities.
Considerable growth and change occur in children during three to five
years of age in all areas of development- physical, motor, cognitive,
social and emotional. Our emphasis is:
-
To appreciate the childhood as a unique and valuable
stage of human life cycle in the present as well as focusing for
preparation for future.
-
Respecting the dignity, worth and uniqueness of each
individual.
-
Helping children and adults to achieve full potential
in the context of relationship that are based on trust, respect, and
positive regard.
-
We encourage, appreciate and support the close ties
between the child and family.
Our teachers are experienced and
qualified and has the ability to provide well designed classroom
spaces with “learning stations” at which children can
independently choose to participate. Our highly qualified teachers
assess and observe the children regularly and rotate and add materials
frequently to maintain and extend the child’s interest. Young children
seem to learn best when teachers play the role of facilitators and
develop the curriculum based on the interest and abilities of the
children. Our staff is committed to provide learning experiences in a
non-threatening environment where learning is encouraged not forced.
Child centered activities are guided by a facilitator.
The preschool curriculum is based on the following components:
-
Language
and Communication
-
Science
and Technology
-
Math and
Logic
-
Creative
Expressions
-
Music and
Movement
-
Interpersonal/ Intrapersonal Skills
-
Enrichment and Extra curricular activities
Language and
Communication
Our approach is based on to develop the
whole language.
Young children need a print rich
environment with spoken and written language. Our emphasis is to
provide emergent language approach that involves children in continual
and personally meaningful learning. Receptive language develops
before expressive language. Long before children learn to read, they
are involved in language activities that lead to a lifelong learning
and appreciation of beauty of language. Language is an essential part
of every interaction, every aspect of curriculum, and every day life.
Developmentally appropriate materials and resources are available to
enhance the language and communication skills for the children under
our care.
Our teachers offer integrated
activities for listening, speaking, reading, and writing throughout
the curriculum projects. Teachers engage children and provide
language experiences that challenge their emerging skills and
knowledge. Reading to children, asking them to retell the story,
asking them to rhyming with words, putting on puppet shows, creating a
classroom newsletter in a pre-kindergarten class are the great
examples of developing language and communication skills.
Science and
Technology
Open-ended questions from the facilitators help
children learn how to ask question… how to be a thinker or scientist.
Our teachers provide a large block of time
to the children each day to explore and experiment with materials to
discover answers themselves. These experiences also provide
opportunities to answers the questions such as "What will happen
if...?" and "How will it change...?" What role do I play to have a
different outcome?
In our classrooms
we have a well-designed science area to enhance and explore the
materials and develop scientific aptitude. This learning area offers
opportunities to experiment, think, and, discover. This also
encourages children to discuss their discoveries with the fellow
classmates.

We also have the
state of the art media center. Children will have the opportunity to
explore 21st century technology under the close supervision
of the qualified staff.
Mathematics and Logic
Math curriculum includes the activities based on
geometry, seriation, classification, sets, number, quantity, length,
and weight use of simple graphs, addition, subtraction (more/less) and
money.
As young children develop their skills and abilities to
understand every day calculations and activities they also need to
begin to recognize that what they are doing is developing the concept
of math. They also begin to understand the value, purpose, and
importance of mathematical logical concepts and that leads them to
them towards success, as they move from perceptual to real life
problem solving skills.

Our facilitators develop learning
centers with appropriate projects and activities to promote the
developmental growth in mathematics necessary for success in school.
We recognize that young children learn best in a developmentally
appropriate planned environment that offers:
-
A developmentally appropriate introduction of math
concepts
-
Concrete experiences, based on every day math which
allow children to learn and practice
-
Daily experiences are rich and personally meaningful
to the specific child
-
A commitment to support and enhance each child’s
unique interest and desire for specific mathematical activities and
basic concepts
Creative Expressions
Our
teachers planned exploratory and sensory activities and help the
children to experience the variety of media.
Our emphasis is on the projects that are
meaningful and based on emergent ideas that are important to the
personal experiences of children. Our teachers guide and support the
research that helps children to develop ideas, questions, and
solutions. The most important aspects that help to
develop the sense of creativity and concepts of aesthetics are based
on the following elements:
-
The
environment plays a major role. A well-planned and well-defined
environment invites participation as well as sustains interest.
-
Selection and presentation of materials play an enticing role. When
children find the materials that are attractive they become more
involved in a project, they represent their ideas and thoughts
through the interaction with materials. Carefully chosen materials
foster the process of creativity, self-expression.
-
The
group size also plays a pertinent role to enhance the creative
expressions of young children. Small group size allows children to
interact with each other, share their ideas with each other and they
develop the ability to resolve the conflicts in a peaceful way.
-
Time is
also an important factor. Our teachers allow appropriate time to
research, explore and discover. Children are not rushed to complete
the projects and assignments. Each child is allow to complete the
project at his or her own pace. Some children need more time then
others. If rushed they may miss the opportunity to gain in depth
experiences.
-
Our
teachers play the role of facilitators. They observe and listen to
the carefully and provide appropriate resources to encourage and
enhance creative expressions. Our teacher set the stage for
successful learning.
Music and Movement
Music and movement is an important
component of our curriculum. From earliest infancy and throughout our
lives physical movement plays an important role in the creation of
nerve cell networks that is actually the essence of learning. Movement
activates the neural wiring the body, making the whole body the
instrument of learning. Our emphasis is to develop the whole child.
Importance of music can be clearly defined and understood through the
following objective. Music and movement plays an important role to
develop:
- Language and listening skills
- Helps improve attention span and
memory
- Helps expand vocabulary
- Increase motivation to communicate
with the world
- Mood altering
- Heightens sensitivity to
aesthetics
Our music and movement curriculum
provides exposure and involvement with variety of international
musical experiences. Rhythmic instruments and autoharps is a part of
our Music program. Rhythms are also practiced by the learning of songs
and finger plays. We also invite guest musicians and singers to visit
children to give exposure to variety of sounds and diverse musical
style. Awareness and understanding of tone, tempo, volume, force,
pitch, levels, articulation and flow are the part of the music
curriculum.
Interpersonal and Intrapersonal Skills
(awareness of social skills)
It is our
desire to focus on the “Holistic Child” who is able to develop caring
attitude around their peers, family and community. Our curriculum is
based on the knowledge of the social and cultural context in which
children live to ensure that learning experiences are meaningful,
relevant and respectful for the children and families under our care.
Children can work on the projects to explore the issues poverty,
health care and shelter, and can raise small amounts of money for
people in homeless shelters or in need in our country as well as
around the world. We will work with local agencies such as Second
Harvest Food Bank to collect food for their community and learn about
how food gets to the table. Our emphasis will be on the following
concepts to develop the awareness from early stage.
-
How to
make the World a
More Beautiful Place
- How to make
the community of caring and supporting helpers
- How to make
this World a peaceful place by promoting tolerance and peace
Our Enrichment

their true potential and talents.
We offer Musical
Theater, Music on the Move, Classical Music & Art Appreciation, Piano,
Judo, Soccer, Kids in the Kitchen, Cake Decorating, Chinese Language,
Chinese Brush Painting & Calligraphy
and Conversational Spanish classes in addition to our daily learning
and fun activities.
